Song Jianguang! Hua County has such a good cadre!

"Spring brings growth, summer brings growth, autumn brings harvest, winter stores. Giving and taking are measured, comings and goings are timely. Opening and closing, expanding and contracting, never lose their rhythm. Joy and anger, hardness and softness, never deviate from their principles." Xiaotun Village in Laodian Town showcases the remarkable life of Song Jianguang, the village Party Secretary, through the changing seasons.

In 2018, Song Jianguang resolutely gave up his high-paying job as a sales manager and returned to the village. He was elected Party Secretary and devoted himself to Xiaotun Village's poverty alleviation efforts, quietly planting the seeds of prosperity on every inch of the village's land. For eight years, he devoted himself to this land, using his unwavering dedication to the people, illuminating the path of rural revitalization that "never forgets our original aspiration and keeps our mission firmly in mind."

Entering Xiaotun Village, clumps of green plants and flowers climb the walls of residential buildings. Houses are painted with paintings and slogans promoting the new era of civilization and new trends. The village roads are clean and tidy, lined with flowers and trees, and filled with the fragrance of birdsong. Laughter and cheer echo from the cultural square as a unique performance unfolds. The hardworking villagers of Xiaotun celebrate the bumper summer harvest. The village is vibrant with the gratifying changes brought about by rural revitalization.

On his first day in office, Song Jianguang visited all Party members and residents of the village, conducting in-depth investigations and analyses to identify the root causes of problems. He focused on building the Party membership, ensuring the leadership team's leadership, organizing Party members, rallying talented individuals, and mobilizing the masses. He quickly addressed issues such as a weak and disorganized village leadership team, strained relations between officials and the public, and prominent conflicts.

After stabilizing the situation, Song Jianguang and members of the village committee led the villagers in transforming idle wasteland into fertile farmland to increase collective income, utilizing forestland to develop high-efficiency agriculture, and promoting large-scale planting. At a Party member meeting, he called out the slogan, "Work hard for 30 days and turn wasteland into fertile farmland." He, along with the village Party committee, the village committee, and all Party members, joined the effort, living, working, and eating on the same site. Through diligent effort, they completed their goal of leveling 45 mu of wasteland ahead of schedule, ultimately securing the contract and increasing the village's collective income by over 136,000 yuan, earning the village its first pot of gold.

He also secured funding for paving roads, installing streetlights, and constructing a Party and Mass Service Center, a cultural plaza, and a standardized lighted basketball court, improving the village's appearance and transforming it into a civilized, clean, and beautiful new countryside.

Just as he was confidently leading everyone to transform the village, he suddenly collapsed from overwork. Examination confirmed his advanced stage of uremia and the loss of both kidney function. Doctors recommended a kidney transplant. After over a year of waiting and more than 20 trips to Zhengzhou to find a kidney donor, a successful match was found in early 2020. However, due to his busy schedule, he postponed the surgery several times, shifting his daytime dialysis to the evening. Once, after dialysis, he was driving home alone when he encountered dense fog that blocked the road. He lost his way, and the 40-minute journey took him a full three hours. Another time, on an icy road in temperatures exceeding -10 degrees Celsius, he crashed into a tree and nearly fell into a deep pit. The bandage on his wound slipped, and blood soaked through his jacket sleeve. When Song Jianguang returned home, his wife saw his bruised and bleeding arms and wiped away tears, saying, "Old Song, let's quit doing village work! You're killing yourself! If you don't think about yourself, at least think about our family!" Song Jianguang replied, "It's okay. I'll get through it if I just hold on." His actions deeply touched the villagers, and they joined forces to repeatedly complete their village tasks.

Talking and chatting about family matters was a "must-have" for Song Jianguang. He said, "Since taking office, many of the problems I've solved have been solved by chatting with the villagers." He frequently visited households, first consulting with the residents when encountering problems, asking them to offer suggestions and solutions, and then sharing their requests and ideas, before solving them one by one. If one or two times didn't work, he went three or five times. Through continuous effort, he eventually earned the trust and support of the villagers.

He led the village committee to reclaim 16 uninhabited houses in the village. He raised funds from various sources to renovate and repair the old dwellings, transforming them into leisure B&Bs and a village history museum. He also converted over 30 street-facing houses into shops for rent, generating hundreds of thousands of yuan in additional annual income for the village.

Song Jianguang prioritizes spiritual civilization and cultural activities. Relying on the New Era Civilization Practice Center, the Party Building Service Center, and the Cultural Square, he holds various activities three or four times a month, fulfilling the spiritual and cultural needs of the villagers.

The Party Building Service Center is also open to the villagers on holidays and weekends, offering classes in music, art, physical education, and dance. Every year, during traditional festivals like the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Double Ninth Festival, he organizes "Our Festival • xx" activities to continuously enhance the villagers' sense of well-being.

Improving the foundation of integrity, a refreshing breeze sweeps across Huazhou. To foster transparency and strengthen financial management, Song Jianguang led the village committee to publicly disclose village finances through the village bulletin board, accepting public oversight and earning their trust. He also actively encouraged villagers to participate in village affairs, enhancing their sense of ownership. He frequently used themed Party Days to lead Party members and cadres in studying and abiding by the law, and to provide Party lectures on integrity, actively cultivating the image of the village committee and party branch as diligent, pragmatic, and honest.

If the branch doesn't take on the big and tough battles, who will? If Party members don't do the dirty and tiring work, who will? Therefore, working together to build a strong village branch, fight a decisive battle, and achieve a well-off society together has become the unanimous consensus of our branch and members," Song Jianguang said with deep emotion after work.
